In each season – SPRING – SUMMER – FALL – WINTER– I selected Festivals and Events representative of the Umbrian life and tradition. Around these events I create unique cooking vacations including traditional home cooking classes and the best gastronomic and artistic excursions.
However, if your vacation dates do not coincide with our culinary tours we offer a selection of culinary holidays all year round on request for a minimum of 2 people.
In our popular cooking classes we explore all aspects of the Italian cuisine sharing with you many traditional recipes. Our cooking classes are small and intimate as groups vary between two and eight participants, in order to assure a better enjoyment of each other’s company and get as much attention as possible.
The meals prepared will focus on fresh seasonal products and quality ingredients mainly coming for my farm.
The accommodation and the cooking classes are in the farmhouse B&B ”La volpe e l’uva in Perugia”, in the beautiful heart of the Umbria valley, surrounded by 10 hectares of olive groves, vineyards and orchards. It is only 4km from the historic centre of Perugia.

We just spent two weeks touring around Italy and spent the last four of those days living at Raffaella's farmhouse and learning how to cook traditional Italian dishes, taught by Stefanie, including gnocchi and several different pastas. Very hands on, and learned a lot. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially, the fact that after eating all of that food and drinking wine, we now know why the shops close during the middle of the day! And the best part was we always had leftovers and were able to take them to the apt and enjoy them again for dinner that night...along with one of their own bottles of wine:).Great hospitality and breath-taking views. And, after recovering from noon meal we still had time to explore the surrounding area. Fantastic ending to a wonderful trip.
We had a wonderful two days here. From the minute Stefano picked us up at the airport to the train ride back, all was arranged and smooth. Raffaela greeted us like old friends which set a nice tone. We checked into our room with consisted of a bedroom, large bathroom and dining area and a large kitchen. Nice table out front to enjoy the supplied coffee and cake. It was nice to have a few things to nibble on for breakfast and the supplies were appreciated. Also nice to walk in the orchard and eat cherries from the tree. Great view of the country side from our terrace. We started cooking the next day and were blessed with not only a good teacher, but two other fun loving students. Was a fun day learning how to make pasta from scratch. We ate what we cooked over a couple glasses of wine, and then off to a winery for a tour. Enjoyed that, but the tour the next day of Asissi was incredible. A great guide who regaled us for a couple hours in a most interesting town. All was positive. Special thanks for teaching me how to cook a rabbit. A first.Would recommend this place for those who like a relaxing and low key place to go. A true taste of Italian cooking and hospitality. Brava.
I found Let's cook in Umbria through Trip Advisor and the reviews made me think it was the right place. The setting is almost like a movie - looking over olive trees and hills. The lessons were very useful - I love to cook but I have never been organized. The lessons can be brought home - all accessible and practical. Raffela and her family made us welcome on their farm and the tours that were organized were excellent. This was a delightful way to see and learn more about Italy.
This was a great experience ..the setting and property is beautiful. Rafaela is a gracious host, very warm and welcoming. She made every effort to see that I was comfortable. Stefania is a great instructor , also warm and gracious. She shared her culinary skills and recipes with pleasure. Thank you Rafaela and Stefania ..
After some detours to Valfabricca and other Umbiran towns we found the farm after helpful directions from the owner Raffaella. The farm is set in a beautiful valley not far from Perugia. We got settled in a nice apartment on the farm with a bedroom and a kitchen/living room. The cooking class started the following day and was held in the Rafaella's kitchen. Our chef was Stefania, the owner of two dogs and a B & B in Perugia. She had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable. She taught us how to cook Umbrian style making different kinds of pasta, wonderful sauces, chicken, rabbit, pork and desserts. We used farm fresh eggs and other fresh ingredients and herbs from the farm. "Cooking is easy" she said. After each class we ate a great meal and had some of Raffaellas homegrown wine. Delicious! In the afternoon Enrico drove us to different sites in Umbria, like Assisi, Deruta ceramics and Montefalco. Raffaella was the perfect hostess. We had a wonderful time! We can't wait to go back and take other family and friends!
Of all the cooking and touring experiences we have had in past trips to Italy this one tops the list! This was our first and certainly not our last visit to Umbria and the entire experience of staying at La Volpe e L'Uva made it our best traveling experience we have had in Italy! Ciao!.
This was our first experience of a cooking school and was definitely a great place to start. The two cooking classes we went to were practical, fuss free and full of great tips. We've tried all the meals since our return home and they all worked, which is a great result. The trips to see the Easter procession, vineyard and olive oil factory were great. We were lucky to have agreat group, which really helps.
We had a wonderful time at Raffaella's over the Easter Weekend. We cooked, ate, were taken to an Easter procession, wine tasting, olive oil tasting and several Easter inspired tours. Stefania was a fantastic cooking teacher, and we really enjoyed the whole experience. The accommodation was comfortable and I would do it all again tomorrow!!
